The three-storey flat-roofed houses have a living area of approximately 140 m² and are constructed using timber frame technology. This project is an important milestone for both the municipality of Zwijndrecht and area developer AM. By choosing wood as the main material, AM is once again taking an important step towards a climate-positive future. Timber frame construction combines CO₂ storage capacity with minimal environmental impact and excellent opportunities for reuse, making it one of the most sustainable construction methods available today.

Continue to build and dare to innovate
Robert Kreukniet, Alderman for Spatial Development, Construction, Housing and Mobility for the Municipality of Zwijndrecht: "With Euryza Welgelegen, we as a municipality are taking a major step towards future-proof and sustainable living. It is remarkable to see Zwijndrecht welcoming its first timber construction project. This demonstrates that we are not only continuing to build, but also daring to innovate. This is beneficial for today's house hunters and for future generations."
Lieve van der Putte, project developer at AM, explains: "This timber construction project has been realised thanks to close collaboration between the municipality, AM and BAM Wonen. Timber construction is in line with our ambition to develop in a climate-positive way. In addition to the benefits for the climate, it also results in a healthy indoor climate, less construction waste and faster construction times."
Euryza: sustainable neighbourhood with history
The timber-framed houses complete Euryza, a new neighbourhood on the Oude Maas in Zwijndrecht. Development began in 2017 with the construction of the Landzigt and Rietvink apartment buildings, named after historic rice husking mills in the region. Since then, Euryza has grown into a vibrant neighbourhood where history, urbanity and nature come together. Euryza: a sustainable neighbourhood with history
