In February, the province of North Brabant gave its approval for the further development of Landgoed Driessen phase II. This brought the construction of around 1,000 additional homes one step closer, homes that are desperately needed by the municipality.
Letter of intent for Driessen Estate phase II
3 November 2025In order to accelerate the housing construction project in Waalwijk, the municipality of Waalwijk, together with Casade, AM, Heijmans and Whoon (the landowners within the planning area), has concluded a letter of intent for Landgoed Driessen phase II. This letter of intent includes an agreement to investigate the planning, programmatic and financial feasibility: in other words, what it could look like, what the planning will be and whether it is all affordable. The investigation is expected to be completed in September 2026.
Cooperation and feasibility
Together with the largest landowners, Waalwijk is investigating whether and how a feasible plan can be developed for Landgoed Driessen phase II. The municipal council has already established the basic principles for this at an earlier stage. External agencies are being called in to conduct the investigation. Among other things, they are investigating what it could look like and how we deal with greenery, water and biodiversity.
Alderman Ad de Jong is responsible for housing in Waalwijk. Over the past three years, he has worked hard to accelerate housing construction in Waalwijk, Sprang-Capelle and Waspik: "With this joint feasibility study, we are taking a concrete step towards the homes we need now. We are doing this together with the landowners, so that we can move forward quickly and make well-informed choices – for affordability, for a future-proof living environment and for an accessible neighbourhood. This is good news for future house hunters in our municipality. For those looking for a home more quickly, the completion of Landgoed Driessen phase I is a godsend. Construction of the last 400 homes will start here next year."
