18,000 square metres of additional retail space completes the De Voorwaarts shopping area in Apeldoorn

19 December 2025

Area developer AM has sold approximately 18,000 m² of retail and leisure space in Apeldoorn to a private investor. Voorwaarts II will complete the large-scale shopping area “De Voorwaarts” and give Apeldoorn a significant expansion of its shopping, sports and leisure facilities. Construction will start in week 2 and completion is scheduled for the end of September 2026.

Voorwaarts II is located in Apeldoorn's shopping hotspot and is a powerful addition to Voorwaarts I, which has been home to established names since 2013 and currently offers approximately 22,000 m² of retail space. The second phase consists of nine retail units and strengthens the area's position as a regional attraction. Well-known retailers such as Coolblue, Pets Place, HelloTV, Exterioo and BigGym have already signed up and will soon be opening their doors here.

Meer dan een retailpark

The area is a multifunctional destination where shopping, sports and leisure come together. In addition to De Voorwaarts I and II, Hornbach, Intratuin, the sports complex with football, athletics and rollerblading, and Omnisport Apeldoorn are also part of the area. This unique mix makes “De Voorwaarts” a dynamic part of the city that attracts visitors from across the region every day.

De Voorwaarts is also fully equipped for large-scale use in terms of accessibility and parking. Visitors to the sports facilities, events and shopping area can make use of more than 2,500 free parking spaces directly adjacent to the shops and facilities.

Felix Sanders, Director of Project Development at AM: "AM has always promised to complete this development and we are proud to now be fulfilling that promise. With Voorwaarts II, we are not only adding high-quality retail, but also strengthening the entire ecosystem of De Voorwaarts: a place where shopping, sports, events and leisure come together. This completes the area and makes it future-proof for Apeldoorn and the region.”

AM was commercially advised by Retail Capital and legally advised by CMS in this transaction. Aan de Stegge from Twello is realising the project. Creating Retail Parks is responsible for the letting.
