Grow is a joint development by Synchroon and area developer AM. The plan concerns a city block of almost 75,000 m² GFA with a wide mix of functions. This will create a lively place where people can live, work, exercise, and meet each other. The design by KCAP, Monk Architecten, Studio Nauta, and Flux landscape architecture emphasizes health, exercise, and social interaction, with a strong focus on biodiversity and greenery. Grow is ensuring sustainable urban renewal in Utrecht.
The Grow program comprises 575 homes and a mix of social and commercial facilities, divided as follows:
- 188 social rental apartments
- 140 mid-range and private sector rental apartments
- 247 owner-occupied apartments
- A health center, daycare center, offices, gym, various commercial spaces, bicycle parking for over 1,900 bicycles, and a public parking garage with 380 parking spaces. On the inside of the city block, there will be a very spacious courtyard garden of approximately 4,500 m² with space for nature, sports, games, and socializing.
The social rental apartments have been sold to the Woonin housing association. The mid-range and private sector rental apartments, gym, and part of the offices have been sold to Achmea Real Estate on behalf of the PME pension fund. The public parking garage has been sold to Vastgoedorganisatie Utrecht (VGU). VGU is also the intended buyer of the health center and daycare center. The apartments for sale will go on sale in phases starting in the spring of 2026. Van Wijnen is responsible for the realization of Grow.
